ABOUT

The T-103 "Tyrant" model the latest advancement in Bio-Organic Weapons (BOWs), an emerging field of security solutions for national and private use, and the culmination of Umbrella Corporation America's ® signature Tyrant Virus (T-Virus) product line. Unlike competing BOW products, T-103s are designed for consistent, top-of-the-line performance with total responsiveness to authorized user commands. Each one is programmed to understand languages of the client's choice. Their total focus on objective completion is guaranteed by genetic engineering and backed up by an implanted Umbrella Corporation® control module with external radio receiver. Once activated, a T-103 will relentlessly complete its tasks, requiring no user supervision. Their track record in the field has shown their adaptability, completing missions as varied as seek-and-destroy, guarding high-value targets and VIPs, anti-personnel and anti-armor combat support, and personnel and object retrieval. Once unleashed, they're unstoppable.

That's not a figure of speech--T-103s
can lift a literal ton of weight with ease, and can pull dead weights in excess of seven tons. With a grip strong enough to bend steel and shatter bones, T-103s rarely need to be deployed with more weaponry than their fists, operating with devastating effect. In a world where defensive solutions are designed with humans in mind, T-103s disrupt the space with unparalleled performance.

And that's not all--T-103s
can be deployed in concert with human assets, other T-103s, or with other T-Virus products, acting as part of a multi-modal solution for clearing a target zone of hostiles. Deploy T-Virus dispersal solutions to passively undermine hostile targets in three days or less (see relevant product codes below), then crush entrenched positions with targeted T-103 assaults. Our expert tacticians recommend combining this approach with the T-Virus product Hunter model, for rapid elimination of soft targets.

Purchase of a T-103
comes complete with dedicated service support and a fuel contract. Our optimized high-density nutrient formula is all you need to keep your T-103s running at peak performance, and they're capable of self-sustaining behavior to cover the gaps on long deployments. T-103s save big-time on repair and maintenance costs compared to conventional weapons due to their greatest asset: augmented regeneration. Normal combat wear and damage sustained will disappear in seconds, and damage that would permanently disable other BOWs is gone in an hour or less. T-103s are rated for small weapons fire, anti-personnel ordinance, and can maintain functionality against anti-armor weaponry with a 70% success rate.

When others might break under heavy fire,
T-103s unleash their true potential: Each T-103 comes equipped with limiters designed to break when they encounter resistance that threatens mission success. With the limiters released, the T-103 will transition into Super Tyrant mode, transforming a T-103 into an extended capacity rapid assault unit that will remain active in the field until operations are successfully completed.

PERSONALITY

What Umbrella won't tell their customers is that T-103s are very much living beings, no matter how much they try to make them function like machines. T-103s are non-verbal and stone-faced to an unnatural, unblinking degree, but they have likes and dislikes, they can get frustrated on difficult assignments, and they can feel pain.

T-103s have been genetically engineered for obsessive behavior, which provides a base level of assurance that they'll follow orders. Completing tasks is psychologically vital for them. But what really keeps them in line is the control chip implanted in each Tyrant's head, which causes discomfort any time a T-103 isn't advancing toward completing an objective. A T-103 on assignment will thus relentlessly pursue its targets. The longer a mission goes on, the harder they'll push to complete their tasks, and may latch onto particular targets that have frustrated their efforts.

T-103s are non-verbal, though they are capable of producing noise, as evidenced when driven to fury in Super Tyrant form. They understand at least one language, but they expect to be talked at, not talked to.

Each T-103 is designed as a weapon, and they've been treated that way. They have been indoctrinated for their function, and only taught skills and facts that help them complete those tasks. T-103s have never known anything soft or nurturing in their lives. They're grown, they're tested, they're packed away in crates and deployed on missions, then return to base to be maintenanced and packed away again. Their only comforts are the silence between deployments and the completion of orders.

T-103-00 in particular shows a number of particular quirks, some of them brought with it, others acquired over its deployment to Raccoon City in September 1998. It was deployed with a hat, which it likes. When the hat is damaged or lost, it becomes angry, chasing the one responsible with greater urgency. It shows a particular disregard for other T-Virus products, backhanding zombies and pushing other mutants out of the way as it tries to complete its goals. Sometimes it will simply push through walls to reach targets when it hears them, but usually it will carefully open doors, bending to get through without damaging the frame. However, it becomes particularly frustrated with one Leon Kennedy, an elimination target that escapes it multiple times, ultimately resulting in the loss of a key objective.

This ultimately leads to its death. Caught in a series of explosions as it tries to kill Leon, its limiters are damaged, resulting in rampant mutation into a Super Tyrant and the mental instability that the form creates. Utterly focused on killing Leon, it is killed instantly when directly struck with an anti-tank rocket.

APPEARANCE

T-103-00 is unnaturally tall and heavily muscled. While it might be mistaken for a human at a distance, its gray skin has strange fingerprint-like wrinkles, like the skin didn't quite grow in perfect synchrony with the rest of it. Even its eyes are gray, with a ring of black iris around more gray, and an inhuman shine to its pupils, creating the impression of inverted-color eyes. It never shows any facial expression and never blinks, unless hit with a painfully bright light. See visual references below for examples of T-103-00 in action.

ABILITIES

MUNDANE

Non-Verbal Communication- T-103-00 will not speak, and has never learned how to. If pressed, it may respond to yes/no questions by tapping on anything nearby. It also knows military hand-sign, and has learned an ad-hoc "home sign" system used by Umbrella technicians when operating around it. It does not know how to read, but it can recognize familiar words and symbols.

Fast Learner- Tyrants are expected to memorize their targets and move through complex environments without the use of navigational aids.

Obsession- All Tyrants have obsessive personalities, and will tend to continue working on tasks until they are completed, regardless of how long it takes or how hard the task is.

Pain-Tolerant- T-103-00 can feel pain, but rarely reacts to it, beyond slowing its progress. Sudden blinding lights or deafening noises are the exception--it will stop completely until it recovers from the disorientation.

WEAPON

Lab-Grown- Umbrella Corp created the T-103s as modified clones of their experimental prototype T-102 Tyrant. All T-103s are grown in a lab to adulthood and conditioned with all the information and training Umbrella thinks a living weapon should know.

Control Chip- All T-103s are implanted with a control chip, which is mostly embedded in their skull, with a small Umbrella-branded diode or antenna sticking through the skin on their left temple. This control chip enforces their behavioral controls via aversive conditioning, and may be used to remotely update their commands. The T-103 cannot touch the exposed portion of the control chip, or attempt to remove it. In most Jam Jar RP settings, assume that the chip is disabled, but still may be manipulated by the proper electronic interference.

MUTANT

Strength- T-103-00 lifts and bends the tail of a crashed police helicopter with minimal strain, treats brick walls like unwelcome suggestions standing in the way of crushing skulls single-handed, smashes through concrete walls to reach targets, and pushes a crashed SWAT van off of itself to continue pursuing its targets.

Resiliency- T-103-00 can take several rounds of small arms fire to the face and more to the body without stopping, or grenades lobbed directly at it. It survives several larger point-blank explosions without permanent damage.

Regeneration- T-103s are capable of extremely fast regeneration. After taking sufficient damage, they will drop into a kneeling posture and focus on healing. Usually, this takes fifteen seconds to a few minutes. If sufficient damage is sustained, they may be incapacitated for longer--although this is only demonstrated when T-103-00 suffers an injury that severs its lower spinal column and tears a chunk out of its side. If a T-103's head (or possibly heart) is destroyed, it will die. (A note for RE fans: While T-00 doesn't appear in Claire A after the spine-severing incident, the devs have stated there is only one Tyrant in the game, meaning that T-00 somehow regenerates after that incident to pursue Leon and Ada through the rest of their storyline. I have no idea how that makes sense, but that's the word of dev.)

Overclocked- Tyrant regeneration and strength is not without its drawbacks. To support these biological feats, they run hotter than humans do, leaving them prone to hyperthermia without cooling solutions. A T-103 will not move faster than a walk unless it absolutely must, to avoid overheating. When regenerating from a substantial amount of damage, their body temperature increases, leaving them non-functional until the process is complete. If they are pushed too hard, exposed to prolonged extreme temperatures, or forced to regenerate under high heat, they have a greater chance of...

Mutation- T-103s are extremely stable for T-virus mutants, but this is due to "limiter" devices that are implanted in them to tamp down on the disordered growth that the T-virus tends to produce. If these limiters are damaged, T-103-00 will begin to experience rapid and uncontrollable mutations, producing twisted flesh, bone spikes, organ overgrowth such as its heart pushing through its rib cage, and brain alterations that affect its cognitive function, potentially sending it into an uncontrollable fury. This state is irreversible under normal circumstances, and will only end with its death.

SOURCE MATERIAL

The world of Resident Evil is one where flesh has become weaponized. Corporations, governments, militant movements, and religious organizations have all found value in very literal dehumanization, infecting and infesting people with zombifying viruses or mind-control parasites. The Umbrella Corporation is one of the top instigators of this increasingly dire state of affairs, driven by the private ideologies of its founders and executives, alongside pure profit motive. Its status as one of the world's most powerful multinational conglomerates is not enough--they're cornering the market on death itself.

This is also a game series famous for its howlingly bad original translation and voice acting, gonzo action, and absolute nonsense biology in the service of cramming as many movie monsters into a single setting as possible. Sure, the first game was famous for its zombie horror, but it also contained a whole menagerie of movie monsters including Jaws, Anaconda, riffs on the Predator, and Audrey II. My own beloved T-00 was a clear rip-offs of the Terminator, just with less talking and more meat. I love both the serious and screwball sides of Resident Evil, and I indulge in both.
